Modern-day ‘secondment’ is a team sport

In the high-tech industry secondment is a well-known phenomenon. If companies have a capacity or knowledge problem in their engineering department, they engage a secondment agency that can add an extra ‘man’. Has the problem been solved or the project been completed, then the seconded employee will disappear again and with them the knowledge they have acquired.

With our Bridging the Gap programme, we also deliver ‘clever hands’. But we do not call this secondment, because we do not want to bring in just any ‘man’ only for the flex team of a client. No, with our team with want to enter that flex team in order to set up a sustainable, flexible relationship. Our people who work for a client can rely on an entire team at home. This way we, as an organization, acquire knowledge of the operating processes and products of clients and, if necessary, we can quickly upshift. And with the next job we can then deploy people who are already familiar with the company and are therefore immediately fully employable.

When working on projects for new clients, we always first do an intake to become familiar with the client’s working methods. Because we realize that every OEM developer works in a different way, from the development of drawings to the design of the bill of materials. We can pick that up and document it very quickly and this way we get familiar with the do’s and don’ts of each client. This knowledge is especially useful when clients scale up to bigger projects. In that case we don’t provide seconded flex workers, but a connecting engineering-unit. With our modern-day ‘secondment’ we offer a logical growth model.
